Just a regular Blog

I don't have a good quality poem that I want to share on my blog yet so this will just be a blog on things that are happening around me. I don't want to post something unless it is my best work so I don't want to rush myself into posting unfinished work. Life right now is just like any other times. Nothing major has happened to me or the people around me. I am just focused on school right now and trying my best to get the grades that I want. Speaking of school, I really do believe that English is my favorite subject. It is such a relaxing class and I just get to be myself and express myself through my writing. Right now, I am thinking of a subject for my poem and then just take it from there but I have trouble thinking of what to write. Maybe I'll write a poem to my best friend back in Taiwan that I haven't seen in a long time, who knows.

Haikus

the living legends
compete
with tape on their knees

empty room
in her favorite hotel
I call grandma

out my window
the doleful trees
I duck my head

see you next summer
was a common thing
as my hands slipped from hers

laying on the bed
she comes in with a birthday cake
lifts me up

heavy chair
legs trembling
the undefeated season

New Years Resolutions

Time is passing by really fast which means that I need to become even more focused and pay attention to everything. I need to realize that I am becoming an adult and I am responsible for my own actions. New semester means a new start, which is a good thing. I always tell myself that I am not going to slack off and get grades that I don't want, but eventually it always happens. One of the things that I want to work on this year is procrastination. It has always been a serious problem of mine that results into bad grades. I want to work on not procrastinating on everything, not only just school-related work. I also don't want to spend too much time on social media and other things that are not important to me right now. Those are the two things that I really want to work on for this year.

Thoughts in our head

The thoughts in our head are very important. They are why we do the things we do and feel the way we feel. Like the video said, routine and exhaustion often leads to people being annoyed at the actions of other people without even thinking about the reason behind it. It makes us feel that the reason why we are so miserable and unhappy is because of everyone else around us, and not ourselves. So many people only think about themselves first instead of understanding what other's are going through. This issues can be resolved simply by the way we think. Like the video, the supermarket is an example. Imagine that you are running late, and you need to stop by the supermarket to buy ingredients for your family. You get on your way but there is a huge traffic. After you get to the supermarket, its extremely crowded. You finally get your ingredients and you wait in line for a very very long time. You start to think very negatively of everybody else around you. You start to think about how it's the person in front of you driving too slow putting you in this situation right now. You start to think about why everyone must be in the supermarket and this exact time. On the other hand, you can think differently. You can think about how lucky you are to even be able to have a car and have money to buy ingredients at the supermarket. If you think that way, you will be able to understand what other's are going through even though you think you are in a bad situation already.

Honesty in a Relationship

I believe that honestly is an important factor in a healthy relationship. We shouldn't have to lie about anything in order to make the other person happy or to avoid trouble. Trouble will eventually come so why not be honest in the beginning. I feel like being dishonest will only make the situation worse than it really is. For example, a kid lies and makes up an excuse for not doing his homework. The teacher was going to give him an extra day to do it if he didn't lie, but instead the teacher just gave him a zero. Same thing works in a relationship, it is always better to be honest in a relationship even though you think you are making the situation better or simply protecting your partner. Being honest is one of the most important things that people who are in a relationship are working towards.

Relationships

My idea of a perfect relationship is where I can be totally comfortable around them at all times. I want to be able to enjoy our moments together. I see a lot of people who work too hard to maintain a perfect relationship and I just don't see the work for it. I also see a lot of people who are involved in a relationship for other purposes other than being in love with your partner and caring for them. A lot of people are only in relationships temporarily, only trying to resolve a mental or social issue of theirs. I don't know anybody in my life who are in a relationship only for "sex" but I have heard about it and I don't think it's right. I believe that sex is just another component to the relationship that makes your partner special. I want my partner to be caring, loving, and independent in my ideal relationship. Also, they must be funny or else things are going to get awkward real fast.

Yin and Yang: The Balance of Life

Yin and Yang is the balance to life. Our lives would be out of order without balance. It is what keeps us moving throughout our lives. Opposites are important. They do not survive without each other. Light and Dark, Fire and Water, Male and Female are all examples of opposites that balance each other out. Even though the two parts are completely different, they can come together and create something special. We need that special moment in life, or life would be meaningless. Everything around us are opposites. We experience day and night, we are separated into males and females. Our existence is governed by opposites because we live in a place where it is entirely constructed of them. You can not have one without the other, then it would be unbalanced. It is this balanced aspect of life that provides us with what we have.
